Software Engineer

Mission:

Reporting into the development division in London. Responsible for development work & support on CHAMPS open systems platforms. Including performance and future functionally as directed by our functional teams. Our Open Systems platforms are based on MS windows technology and support a number of world class airlines in the management & transportation of their cargo Business.

 

Profile:

The candidate should meet the following pre-requisites:

- Minimum 5-6 years experience in a similar Development role and supporting hosted real-time mission critical solutions, working to development specs.

- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Windows server family (2000, 2003 & 2008) including Certificate services, IIS, WLBS, MS Clustering and  TCPIP.

- Minimum 3 years working with MSSQL 2000 and 2005.

- Sound knowledge of the key concepts of the industry, from Enterprise SOA to Web 2.0.

- Practical experience of the main IT processes: requirements management, development, integration, support, maintenance.

 

Specific languages include:

- In-depth knowledge of developing web sites using C# .NET aspx pages.

- Experience of calling COM objects including MSXML.

- In-depth knowledge of client side JavaScript scripting together with using msxml com objects.

- Sound knowledge of C++.

- Knowledge and interest of Java technologies is considered an advantage.

 

- Ability to write xml schemas.

- XML/XSLT.

- Web services.

- Visual Source safe.

- Strong interpersonal, and communications skills.

- Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.

- Good analytical skills, with a practical approach to problem-solving and consensus builder.

- Willing to participate in an “out of hours” support schedule (Call out).

- Knowledge of the Airline Cargo sector an advantage but not required.

- Knowledge of IBM MF comes and surrounding technologies an advantage but not required. EG. SNA, -Websphere MQ, ALCS and TPFDF.

- Fluent in English (spoken, written) is mandatory; other languages will be considered as assets.

 

Key responsibilities:

- Responsible for maintaining all applications deployed on our MS Windows infrastructure in our     London Datacenter., including new application releases, liaising with data centre support staff for DR testing, Server patching and problem resolution.

- Contribute to design and deployment of new systems.

- Analyze the technical request coming from the customer via Customers Services or Sales.

- Ensure solutions are documented, approved and supported by our hosting suppliers or CHAMP Technology Services organization.

- Provide Level 2 – 3 technical support for the mentioned solutions.
