 European Community Requirements

 

‘Paperless Customs’ is a vision and objective for the EC (452/2003). 

A single window/ one-stop-shop linking all government agencies to a single access point with true ‘paperless environment’ for customs and trade. CHAMP is actively participating in the multi-stage process.

 

  • Implementation date for the EC requirements remains July 1, 2009

 

 

 US CBP – ACE Strategy

 

Automated Commercial Environment developed to facilitate trade while strengthening border security.

Complies with the WCO Single Window concept. US Customs (ACE) have announced a delay in their cutover date. Now estimated to be Feb-April 2010

The CHAMP product; Global Customs Gateway will be tested, certified and ready for use well before the implementation date.

 

 

 Global Customs Gateway (GCG)

 

Automated data exchange with customs authorities.

E-freight will fail without e-customs.  Thus a number of countries are issuing their e-customs requirements which will be evaluated for inclusion into a single environment with multiple customer and customs interfaces.

The GCG has robust and flexible functionality to accept additional country requirements

 

 

 IATA e-freight initiative

 

CHAMP is Strategic Partner in the Simplifying the Business initiative and a member of the Vendor Action Group. Ongoing activities include: 

 

  • Expand the Global Customs Gateway to support additional eCustoms initiatives
  • Enhance core functionality to support the initiative and process new message versions
  • Grow the Global Cargo Community System to increase message support / new customer types
  • Assist customers to participant in the Message Improvement Programme
  • Provide technical knowledge to working groups and conferences
  • Advise clients on their technical requirements
