New requirements for Mexico Customs reporting for Air Cargo

Written by Sample Blog Author | Oct 17, 2019 3:24:00 AM

Mexican Customs has just enacted a new rule requesting air carriers and freight forwarders to provide advance cargo information for shipments exported from Mexico. The already existing import regulation is now enclosing an export component that will enter into force on 1 December 2019.

Carriers are responsible for filing Export Cargo information for shipment exported from Mexico, for short-haul flights or long-haul flights. The source data are Master Air Waybill (MAWB), House Waybill (HAWB) and flight manifest information.

What do I need to do to comply? All airlines are solely responsible for the transmission of the data (air waybill, flight manifest). All Forwarders are solely responsible for the transmission of the data (House Waybill).

How can CHAMP help? CHAMP is already offering a filing service compliant with Mexico Customs mandatory requirements, for Import and export shipments via its Traxon Global Customs (TGC) service for our airlines and GHA clients.

What do I need to do to connect to TGC? Carriers only need to send their IATA Cargo-IMP FWB, FFM messages to the CHAMP TGC service on flight departure and TGC takes care of the rest – connecting to Customs and filing the correct customs messages on time using the Cargo-IMP message data supplied by the carrier. You will need to provide flight schedule information to CHAMP but that is part of the TGC solution offering.
